Open Banking is quickly moving ahead in Canada in a uniquely Canadian hybrid model where regulators will set the rules and industry will implement what is needed. If you aren't familiar with Open Banking and not sure why it's a topic at this event, it's a global movement that is implemented in the UK, Europe, Australia, Brazil and the US, and is predicted to be coming to Canada in the next 12 months. It will require banks to share financial data, that a consumer or small business requests to be shared, with an accredited third party. That could be an InsurTech, FinTech or a software company or tech giant.
